Ryan Worcester 2015 Crankworx Whistler Deep Summer Entry

With Deep Summer 2016 hitting the stage tonight in Whistler, we wanted to share our favorite entry from last year. The bangers are plentiful—like clunking down Crabapple hits—but it's the message that stands out and makes this more of a statement than an edit. One that we're proud to support.

Lars Sternberg, one of the riders involved, perhaps said it best:

"The 'contest' is over so I would like to share this. I wanted to wait until this wasn't attached to anything other than simply watching, and paying attention.

For my friends and family who are unaware what Deep Summer is, it's a photographic contest held during the biggest mountain bike event of the year. Six photographers are chosen to take photos over three days time, then edit a video slideshow to be handed in by 1pm on the 4th day. They choose a cast of subjects to ride bikes for the photos. This year I was asked to be a part of a team. We had an amazing crew for the project, and went into it with the intention of creating something we would be very proud of. I can wholeheartedly say that we accomplished our goal.

Ryan, Chris, Len, Frankie, Seth and Billy - I walk away having shared this experience with you. Thank you for being who you are and making this what it is. And Seb, again thank you inviting Ryan.

Now that the winners have been chosen, I ask that you watch our piece (whether it be your first time, or not) and open your eyes. You'll have to open your mind as well to catch some of the concept which was so aptly orchestrated by Ryan. Good things do not come easy, and this was not designed in a way to win any contest. But to remind us that ones life is about you, not things.
I am more proud of this than any other accomplishment I have achieved on a bicycle.

Can't stop, won't stop. Pedal connected.
End transmission."
