Smith Sweat X Goggle & Roll offs - Review

Dust, rain, snow - you name it, the Smith Intake Sweat X goggle can tackle it all. Being from the Northwest, wet conditions are usually the norm. We all know how frustrating it can be when you're out for a day on the hill with your buddies, riding your favorite trails, and not able to see your lines. Fortunately for us, Smith has designed a system to keep your eyesight clear while in the worst of conditions.

Right out of the box, the goggles are equipped with clear lenses. Smith also includes a free Roll Off system and goggle bag. I had heard about Smiths leading Roll Off technology in the past, so I was excited to install the system and give it a go. The system is pretty basic, and only took about 10 minutes to install. Once installed though, the goggles appeared to be much bulkier then I had imagined. I questioned how this would affect the overall fit of the goggle and the helmet together. However, once I got my helmet on, I couldn’t even notice the Roll Off system attached to the goggles.
As a racer myself, I'm one of the many who feels that using tear offs can be a real pain in the ass. You worry about when on your run you'll have to tear off, about not pulling more then one off... the list goes on. The simplicity and ease that the Roll Off system offered is unmatched. With a simple pull of the string, the system slides the film for a clear and clean view. Each roll of film provides roughly 25-35 clear views (longer then you might expect.)
Aside from the excellent clear vision system, the Intake Sweat X goggle performed just how I wanted. The 3-layer face foam allowed for a comfortable and snug fit within my helmet, and the silicon backed strap allowed for the goggle to stay in place at all times. The clear anti-fog Lexan lens also kept the fog away while keeping my sight clear. Overall the Smith goggle system is now a must in my gear bag, and I highly recommend giving the Smith Sweat X goggle a try for yourself.
